ROUND LAKE BEACH RESIDENT WINS $2 MILLION LOTTERY PRIZE
CHICAGO—An Illinois Lottery player from Round Lake Beach just claimed some serious bankroll when they claimed a $2 million prize, after scratching a ‘Bankroll’ instant ticket to reveal the big win. The winning ticket was sold at Supermercado Santos at 4045 W. 31st. St. in Chicago.
“Everything that day was going good and I figured, ‘Why not pick up a ticket?’,” said the winner, who chose to remain anonymous at the time of claiming their prize.
“The morning had gone well and it was early in the afternoon and I was out and about, as I love to travel,“ said the player. The player scratched the ticket at the end of the day, to reveal the win that left them - and their entire family- completely speechless.
“I scratched the ticket when I got home and I freaked out!” exclaimed the winner, who couldn't believe their own eyes. “I actually splashed water on my face and even pinched myself to make sure I was awake.”
The winner’s parents were home at the time and they had to reconfirm if what the winner’s eyes were seeing was actually true. “I had them double check the ticket and they were both speechless.”
The winner’s siblings couldn't believe the news either, and laughed when recanting their reaction the moment they shared the news with them. “My brother's reaction was ‘Are you finally going to pay me that dollar you owe me?’, and my sister said ‘Sweet! Now, where’s my money?’,” laughed the winner.
The newfound multi-millionaire said that topping their “shopping” list with the Lottery prize is education. The winner shared that they are first generation in America and that the importance of education has always been a top priority and ingrained in their family's values.
“I’ll be paying for school - my college tuition,” said the winner, who is beginning classes next month, as they follow their passion and major in Video Game Design. “I also plan to start college savings accounts for my siblings to help pay for their education,” said the winner. “It's a dream come true not only for myself, but also for my family.”
The winner plans to put the remainder of the prize in savings and investment, and once school is completed, hopes to travel as well.
The player hopes other players can experience this same feeling. “It’s such a good feeling, I hope that other players get to feel this same thing, too!” exclaimed the winner.
