CHICAGO, April 9, 2024 – An Illinois Lottery retailer is celebrating after recently selling a jackpot-winning Lotto ticket worth a whopping $5.45 million.

The winning Lotto ticket was purchased at Prestige Liquor at 345 North Central Avenue in Chicago for the Thursday, March 28 drawing.

“This was a great surprise,” exclaimed Sam Singh, who co-owns Prestige Liquor with his wife, Gagandeep Kaur. “We see many customers throughout the day, so anyone could be the winner. We wish the winner so much joy in life.”

The lucky player’s winning ticket matched all six numbers in the Thursday, March 28 drawing to score the $5,450,000 jackpot prize. The winning numbers were: 6-8-15-26-27-48.

This is the second-largest Lotto jackpot prize won so far this year, coming in behind a $10.4 million winning prize sold in Park Ridge in February.

This is also a big win for Prestige Liquor in Chicago, as the store will receive a selling bonus of one percent of the prize amount, or $54,500.

When asked how Prestige Liquor will spend the bonus, Singh chuckled and said, “My wife is the boss - I will let her decide what we spend the bonus on.”

Singh’s wife Kaur added, “We will be sharing some of the bonus with our hardworking employees. They deserve it!"

More than 55,000 winning tickets were purchased for the March 28 Lotto drawing.

So far this year, over 1.8 million winning Lotto tickets have been sold, with total prizes amounting to more than $24.2 million for Illinois Lottery players.

Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw in which to claim their prize. The Illinois Lottery encourages all lucky winners to write their name on the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they’re ready to claim their prize.
