Franklin Park Woman Wins A Million Dollars On Lottery’s 50th Anniversary Scratch-Off Ticket

CHICAGO, July 1, 2024 – As the Illinois Lottery celebrates its 50th Anniversary this July, it crowns another new millionaire. Pamela Arscott of Franklin Park recently won the top prize of $1 million on a $1,000,000 Celebration Instant Ticket.
“I was at Walmart the other night when I saw the new Celebration Instant Tickets and they caught my eye, so I bought a $10 one,” explained the lucky winner. “I didn’t think anything of it. I actually put it in my purse and forgot about it until the next morning.”
The newly-minted millionaire continued, “I started scratching the ticket and saw I had a matching number for a million dollars. I thought it was a mistake. I immediately woke up my daughter. I told her to run out to the store to scan it to double check and make sure it’s real. She got to the store, scanned the ticket, called me and said, ‘It’s real. You’re getting a million dollars, Mom.’”
The winning scratch-off ticket was purchased at Walmart, located at 1050 North Rohlwing Road in Addison. For selling the winning ticket, Walmart in Addison will receive a selling bonus of one percent of the prize amount.
“I have five children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. My husband and I were married for forty-nine years until he passed away in October,” shared the winner, between tears. “He was the breadwinner and took care of all of us. I truly believe this winning ticket is a blessing from him.”
In celebration of its 50th anniversary in July 2024, the Illinois Lottery launched a lineup of Celebration Instant Tickets in May. The tickets include:
- $50,000 Celebration: A $2 ticket with a $50,000 top prize (four top prizes still available)
- $500,000 Celebration: A $5 ticket with a $500,000 top prize (two top prizes won, two more still available)
- $1,000,000 Celebration: A $10 ticket with a $1,000,000 top prize (one top prize won, two more still available)
- $2,000,000 Celebration: A $20 ticket with a $2,000,000 top prize (three top prizes still available)
Each Celebration Instant Ticket includes a second chance: Enter for a chance to be one of fifty $500 weekly winners. Final prizes include five $50,000 winners and one $500,000 winner. See official rules here.
