CHICAGO, September 6, 2024 – This summer has been one for the books for an Illinois couple. First came marriage and next came a shocking $3 million lottery win.

“I bought four Instant Tickets at my local convenience store and the last one that I scratched-off was the winning ticket!” exclaimed the winner, who has requested to remain anonymous. “I was definitely in shock but my wife’s reaction was total disbelief, and it remained that way until the day we claimed our prize.”

The $3 million top-prize-winning scratch-off ticket was purchased at Volume Liquors, located at 382 Northwest Highway in Cary, IL, a suburb 50 miles northwest of Chicago and 60 miles east of Rockford.

The newlywed couple won the top prize on a $30 Titanium Black 7s scratch-off ticket.

The lucky winner said he picked this specific ticket because “The game was called Titanium 7s, and would you believe my birthday is 7-7-77?”

When asked what he plans to do with their newfound windfall, he replied, “Save for the kids’ college funds, beef up our retirement accounts and go on more regular family vacations!”

This is also an exciting win for Volume Liquors in Cary, as the store will receive a bonus of one percent of the prize amount for selling the winning ticket, or $30,000.

So far this year, more than 43 million Illinois Lottery Instant Tickets have been sold, netting players over $1.1 billion in prizes.

The Illinois Lottery currently offers a range of Instant Ticket games priced from $1 to $50, available at approximately 7,000 retail locations across Illinois.
