$1 MILLION POWERBALL® PRIZE WON IN NAPERVILLE
Powerball Jackpot Rolls To $274 Million
CHICAGO—Another Illinois Lottery player recently became a millionaire overnight when their Powerball ticket snagged a $1 million dollar prize in the Saturday July 24 draw. The winning ticket was purchased at BP gas station at 1983 Brookdale Rd. in Naperville.
"This win is great and means a lot to our business," says Laura Espinoza, manager of the BP gas station in Naperville. "Lottery brings in a lot of regular customers, and we get to know them and the games and numbers that they play. This win will bring more customers into our store."
Espinzoza enjoys selling Illinois Lottery tickets and watching players celebrate their winning moments in-store. "It's exciting to see customers when they win," says Espinoza. "It can be any amount, like $100 or $200, and they get really excited."
Espinoza shares that although they don't know the identity of the customer who purchased the winning Powerball ticket, they send their well wishes to the player, "This is great for them and we want to congratulate them on their win!"
This is also a win for the Naperville BP gas station for selling the winning ticket, as the retailer will receive a selling bonus of 1% of the prize amount.
This win comes just before the addition of a third weekly draw being added to the Powerball game, which is set to kick off on Monday August 23, 2021. Every Monday night, Powerball players will now have another chance to win big prizes, three times a week.
This player has become the 7th Illinois Lottery player to win a $1 million prize with Powerball this year, joining this year’s winning tally of 28 Powerball players who have also won top prizes of $50,000 each.
The Illinois Lottery urges the lucky player to sign the back of their ticket and keep it in a safe place until they are ready to claim their prize. Players can find instructions on how to claim their prize by visiting the When You Win page on the Illinois Lottery website.
The Powerball jackpot continues to roll with a $274 million jackpot prize on offer for tonight’s draw. Powerball tickets are $2 each and players have the option to add the Power Play for an additional $1.
